The Port Arthur Public Library staff is available to perform research for questions from non-local patrons which require an extended amount of time (more than 1/2 hour) to answer. However, this encompasses more than basic reference services (which are free) and is therefore available on a cost basis. Patrons do have the option to set limits on the amount of time or expense they are willing to incur. All revenues will be deposited into the library's general fund.
Rates
Non-resident Individuals and businesses - $9.00 per 1/2 hour (or portion) with the first 1/2 hour being free (i.e. 1 to 30 minutes = $0.00. 31 to 60 minutes = $9.00).
Non-resident businesses will be charged an additional $10.00 surcharge fee.

Materials and Shipping
Note that processing time for preparing information to be sent or for follow-up is included in the half-hourly rate. Additional charges for materials or shipping may apply:
Photocopies: $.25 per page
Faxing: $2.00 per page
US Mail: Cost of postage
Phone Follow-up (if our staff requires additional information): $2.00 per long distance call
